Upon concluding an ‘open’ and ‘comprehensive’ application process, Mesothelioma UK has appointed 8 claimant law firms (Fieldfisher, Hugh James, Irwin Mitchell, Leigh Day, Novum Law, Royds Withy King, Slater & Gordon, and Thompsons) to form the charity’s inaugural legal panel.[i]
Serving 2-year appointments, panel members will help to support and raise awareness of Mesothelioma UK at fundraising events and campaigns, provide donations through legacies and share information and research, while also offering legal services to mesothelioma sufferers and their families. What is more, firms have pledged to express support for each other’s claims work, in a collective approach.
Irwin Mitchell partner, Adrian Budgen, informed Litigation Futures that:
‘The formation of this legal panel will enable even more people to obtain the answers they need and the justice they deserve’.[ii]
Will this new enterprise lead to an injection of asbestos-related employers’ liability (EL) / public liability (PL) disease claims? Only time will tell.
