In edition 201 we reported on the separation of Slater & Gordon’s (S&G) Australian listed parent company from the UK subsidiary following a recapitalisation plan. Initially, the two entities entered into a transitional arrangement governed by a business separation agreement but this has now been ratified by an Australian court.
This week, we report on the new Chief Executive, David Whitmore, who will lead the newly independent S&G UK. David Whitmore was formerly the vice-chairman and president of the Americas division of NASDAQ-listed firm, Information Services Group and a non-executive Director of law firm Bevan Brittan LLP until November 2017.
Mr Whitmore has said:
‘The legal industry is going through a period of change, with firms getting to grips with regulatory reforms, technological advancements and clients’ evolving needs. I’m confident that, in this challenging environment, and with the clear support shown by its new owners, Slater & Gordon is very well equipped to become the leading provider of consumer legal services in the UK’.
The restructuring of S&G has also seen many of the UK branches closing, including offices in Chester, Wrexham, Milton Keynes and Oldham.
